This Swing is Still Being Used Today
Children Deserve Better!

This swing is used every day by children at a school in rural Kampong Thom.
Originally installed decades ago, the metal has been severely damaged by years of sun, rain, and humidity. What should be a place of joy has become a serious safety hazard.

Why This Swing Is Dangerous

-
The metal seats have rusted through, leaving sharp, corroded holes on thin metal.
-
A child’s foot can cause it to break and slip through
-
Hands and feet can be cut on exposed metal
-
-
The chains are heavily rusted, weakening their strength
-
The welds are cracked and failing, no longer safely holding the swing together
-
The support frame is unstable, increasing the risk of collapse while children are using it
This is not wear and tear — this is equipment that should have been removed years ago.

Why This Can’t Wait

In rural villages, school is the only place children have to play. There are no parks, no alternatives, and no supervision to prevent use of unsafe equipment.
Children continue to use this swing not because it is safe — but because it is all they have.
Play should never come with the risk of serious injury.
What It Costs to Make This Safe

-
Removal of dangerous equipment
-
New swing set and fittings
-
Transport, foundations, and installation

Total needed: $450
This single replacement will protect children today — and for generations to come.
What We Will Replace It With

We will remove this dangerous structure and replace it with a safe, durable swing set built to withstand Cambodia’s climate.
The replacement will:
-
Use non-rusting materials
-
Be professionally installed with secure foundations
-
Provide safe play for thousands of children over decades
